Police are investigating the theft of more than three kilometres of copper cables from U.S. Steel Košice steelworks.
Košice police spokeswoman Lenka Ivanová said various types of copper cables with a total length of 3,080 metres were taken along with plumbing components, transformers, wheelbarrows and other construction material.
Total damages related to the theft, which took place on the night of February 25 to 26 in the Cokery division warehouse, have been calculated at almost €10,300 so far, Ivanová added.
A criminal investigation has been launched but police say they so far have no idea how many people were involved, nor how the items were stolen.
