THE UNIVERSITY of Economics in Bratislava has formed a partnership with the William Davidson Institute of the US University of Michigan Business School to offer executive education programmes in the Slovak capital.
The William Davidson Institute, based at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, Michigan, USA and the Centre for Advanced Studies of the University of Economics in Bratislava have announced plans to offer a 10-day training programme in management this May in Bratislava.
The programme also has the endorsement of Ambassador Ron Weiser, who is a graduate of the University of Michigan.
The "general management program" will be open to mid-to-senior level executives from throughout the Slovak Republic. The program will be taught in English by professors from leading institutions, including the University of Michigan Business School, IMD-Lausanne, and the University of Economics.
The program is designed to teach cross-functional management skills in areas such as finance, marketing, strategy, and leadership.
The real-life business issues facing companies in transition markets will be addressed during the course. The program will be taught through case studies and is designed to be hands-on and interactive.
The William Davidson Institute has conducted this program successfully in Zagreb, Croatia since 1999.
"This type of cross-functional management training is currently lacking in the Slovak Republic, so we are pleased to be able to offer the program in Bratislava," said Amy Gillett, Director of Executive Education for the William Davidson Institute.
"By partnering with the University of Economics in Bratislava, we are able to ensure local relevancy to our world-class training," she continued.
The General Management Program is expected to attract participants from a full range of industries, including the banking, fast-moving consumer goods, high tech, and manufacturing sectors.
The program will run from May 24 to June 3, 2004 and will take place at the University of Economics' executive facility in Bratislava.
The William Davidson Institute has been offering management-training programs in central Europe since its foundation in 1992. The institute recently conducted a five-part training program for senior executives of US Steel in Košice.
The Centre for Advanced Studies of the University of Economics in Bratislava offers over 30 management-training courses a year for executives in the Slovak Republic.
