The foreign trade deficit for the first four months of this year is 25.8 billion Sk, 2.1 billion Sk less than reported originally, said Štefan Burda from the Economy Ministry on June 9. Slovak exports were 95.3 billion Sk (a 16.2 percent annual increase), and imports were 121 billion Sk (17.4 percent annual increase). In April, the highest deficit increase (by 2 billion Sk) was seen in trade with the Czech Republic, which is most likely the consequence of expectations of businesses related to economic measures passed in both the Czech Republic and Slovakia. According to Burda, the correction of the statistics is nothing extraordinary, since data of the Customs Offices always bring corrections.
