THE TWOONE consortium, which was approved by the government in early February as the winner of a tender for the airports in Bratislava and Košice, reported the impending ownership concentration to the Slovak Antitrust Bureau (PMÚ) on February 21.
PMÚ spokesman Miroslav Jurkovič confirmed that TwoOne had met the deadline for announcing its deal, the TASR news wire wrote.
TwoOne signed an agreement to buy a 66-percent share in both airports with the Ministry of Transport, Posts and Telecommunications on February 10. The consortium consists of Vienna Airport (Schwechat), Raiffeisen Zentral Bank AG and the Slovak capital group Penta.
However, these privatization contracts will only take effect if the investor gains approval from the PMÚ by August 15. If the consortium fails to do so, the transport minister can give the deal to the second-place bidder, a consortium comprising the Spanish company Abertis, the British TBI and Slovakia's J&T capital group.
