CABLE TV operator UPC Slovakia has settled a three-year copyright dispute with the Slovak Copyright Association (SOZA).

According to UPC spokesperson Stanislav Saling, the agreement defines copyright fees owed by the broadcaster from 2000, when the dispute started, to 2006, and governs relations and terms of cooperation between the company and SOZA.

In March, UPC had been threatened with the withdrawal of its license by the Council for Broadcast and Retransmission (RVR) if it could not reach agreement with SOZA.

Slovak law requires broadcasters to sign contracts with organisations protecting copyrights.
