UPC to appeal Sk50 million fine

CABLE provider UPC Slovakia has said it will appeal a Sk50 million ($1.1 million) fine it was levied last week by the Anti-Monopoly Office for abusing its dominant market position and charging unjustifiably high prices.

The firm has in the past defied Telecom Office demands to lower its prices, which exceeded the legal limit tied to the inflation rate, and disconnected clients who refused to pay the new rates.
