The prices of gas for households will be reduced by 4.87 percent on average and for small companies by 6.59 percent as of July 4, chairman of the Office for Regulation of Network Industries (ÚRSO) Jozef Hojlenčík announced at a press conference on June 2.
For example, the rate for the D1 tariff group (cooking) will be reduced to a maximum of 4.81 cents per kilowatt hour (kWh). This will lower the annual payments for a household in this tariff group by €1.07, the TASR newswire reported.

In early May ÚRSO stated that the situation with consumer gas prices in Slovakia speaks volumes about real competition on the market and the need of its further regulation. Suppliers of gas for Slovak households did not react appropriately to lower prices on European gas markets, according to ÚRSO spokesman Radoslav Igaz.
