Sylvia Volzová , who along with Pavol Rusko, co-owns Markíza Ltd., the holder of the broadcast license for Markíza television, has announced she will sell her shares in the company. The exact extent of her ownership is currently in dispute with Rusko.
By selling her shares, Volzová will also give up her stake in Slovenská Televízna Spoločnosť, which owns Markíza Ltd. She told a press conference on Monday that there are several entities interested in the deal.
Though Volzová claims to own 50% of Markiza Ltd., on Feb. 12 Rusko announced that her actual holdings totalled only 0.5% of the company. The Council for Radio and Television Broadcasting (RRTV) refused to acknowledge this statement by Rusko and respected Volzová's ownership claims.
The preemptive right to buy the newly available shares belongs to Markíza general director Pavol Rusko, but Volzová said a "legally held general assembly" stated that Rusko should not have the possibility to buy the share.
Volzová denied that Gamatex company, which had been involve with Markíza in the past, would become the new owner of the stake. But she said she would sell her stake to a company she felt would create a positive shift in Markíza, one which would make its broadcasting more objective.
