VSŽ Inc., the steel mill in Košice, registered a non-consolidated net income of 1.3 billion Sk for 1996, 100 million Sk higher than in 1995, company officials announced. VSŽ Oceľ contributed the most to the gain. After a recession in the second half of 1995 and the beginning of 1996, the world steel market recovered, which helped VSŽ export 70 percent of its output outside the Slovak and Czech Republics.
