A NEW survey on wages showed that the differences in income between the various Slovak regions are growing.
While average gross wages in Bratislava and the surrounding region were, for the first nine months of 2003, at about Sk20,000 (€487.01), the wage for the same period in the whole country was, on average, Sk16,000 (€389.68).
The data comes from the latest survey by the Trexima firm and includes the wages of self-employed businesspeople and employees of small firms.
The Slovak daily Pravda wrote that, according to the survey, the Košice region saw fast growth over the first nine months of 2003, rising by one fifth.
The Trexima survey also looked specifically at wages in identical professions in individual regions. For example, the survey showed that while a qualified worker in Bratislava makes up to Sk20,000 (€389.68), in the Košice region the average wage is Sk16,800 (€409.16), and in other parts of the country it is between Sk11,000 (€267.9) and Sk13,500 (€328.79).
