Slovak industrial wages rose by 8.7 percent year-on-year in nominal terms in the January to June period compared with a 17.6 percent rise in the same period last year, the Slovak Statistical Bureau (ŠÚSR) said on July 27. Meanwhile, June industrial output rose by a real 3.1 percent year-on-year compared with a 7.4 percent rise year-on-year in June 1997. Slovak June retail sales showed the best gains, up by a real 14.4 percent year-on-year versus a 2.2 percent year-on-year rise in June 1997. The ŠÚSR also revealed on August 3 that June retail sales rose by a real 14.4 percent year-on-year versus a 2.2 percent year-on-year rise in June 1997.
