Slovakia marks the holiday of its patron saint, the Virgin Mary of Seven Sorrows, on Wednesday, September 15.

The Roman Catholic holiday celebrating the Virgin Mary is a public holiday in Slovakia.

The basilica in Šaštín, western Slovakia, the national shrine of the saint, is hosting a national pilgrimage on September 15-19 this year.
