The Slovak national hockey team lost the game at the IIHF World Championships 2017 against the USA 1:6.

The only Slovak goal was scored by Martin Gernát. Johnny Gaudreau scored twice for the USA, while Clayton Keller, Christian Dvorak, Jacob Trouba, and Anders Lee scored once each.

Slovakia still has 4 points in the preliminary round.

The Slovaks are playing in group A of the preliminary round, with the matches being held in Cologne, Germany. They face teams from Italy, Latvia, Denmark, Germany, Russia, the USA and Sweden.

Based on current IIHF World Rankings Slovakia is currently in 7th position while the USA ranks 3rd.
