In the village of Veľká Bara (Košice region), only a few kilometres away from the Hungarian border, a new winery has arisen. Chateau GRAND BARI offers tourists much more than just a pleasant glass of wine during summer evenings.

Visitors can choose one of four different programmes, ranging from a basic visit to a several-hours-long degustation of nine types of wines paired with a guided tour of the vineyards. Accommodation is also available.

“The Tokaj exhibition is also unique with a more than 150-year-old press that was reconstructed to its original condition,” said Pavol Krištín of Chateau GRAND BARI. Visitors can also have a guided tour of the museum, together with a visit to the production hall. The degustation takes place in the winery's cellars.

Unique location

The building of the winery itself is also special thanks to its design. A beautiful view of the valley and Mount Sátor, standing at the other end of the valley, can be seen from the winery. Moreover, it is surrounded by about 60 hectares of the vineyards that are also accessible to visitors.

“That is our big advantage,” explained Krištín. “We grow our own grapes, so we know exactly which grapes have been used for what bottle.”

The wine is excellent in terms of the natural conditions and varietal combinations of Yellow Muscat, Hárslevelű and Furmint. Maybe that’s because GRAND BARI’s wines have been awarded several times in the last year.

Chateau also invites working teams for team-building.
