Slovakia bids farewell to the championship with a victory

The match was the last for Ladislav Nagy, who ends with his representation career.

The Slovak national hockey team won their last match of the 2019 IIHF World Championships against Denmark. The match ended with the result 2:1 on shootouts.

Slovak goals were scored by Martin Marinčin and Ladislav Nagy. Mikkel Boedker scored for Denmark.

The match was the last for Nagy, who ends with his representation career. He is one of the last world champions, who played for the national team.

Slovaks end at the championship

The match against Denmark was also the last for the Slovak team at this year’s championship.

The national team started with a surprise victory against the US, but did not live up to the high expectations in the matches that followed. Even though they performed well in the matches against Finland and Canada, they lost both matches. After that, they were no longer able to collect enough points to make it to the quarterfinals.

As a result, they will not advance from the preliminary group for the sixth time in a row.

The Slovak national team played in group A of the preliminary round, with the matches being held in Košice.

Based on the current men’s IIHF World Rankings, Slovakia is in 10th position with Denmark ranking 12th.
