What jobs are Slovaks most interested in?

The most attractive profession in 2023 is aupair, the Profesia jobs search website has found. On average, 84 Slovak job applicants react to each such job opening. However, they respond most actively to aupair jobs abroad.

Picker jobs outside Slovakia came second, the SITA news agency wrote.

Other professions that attract dozens of applicants are mostly job offers in Slovakia. The job of regional manager ended in third place. This job is also very lucrative when it comes to monthly earnings, according to the salary comparison website Platy. In 2023, a regional manager can earn up to €4,000 gross a month.

Job offers such as copywriters, marketing directors, nutrition assistants, occupational psychologists and journalists also made it onto Profesia's top 10 list of the most attractive job positions from the perspective of job applicants.

Jobs in the IT, education and health sectors are the least popular among job applicants, even though the salaries offered are comparatively high.

  • The international military exercise Strong Cohesion 23-2 (Deployex 23) will be held over the next few days at the Lešť military training area in Banská Bystrica Region. (TASR)

  • The first community centre for people with HIV was opened in Bratislava on Friday. Its goal is not only to provide support and help to people living with HIV, but also to spread awareness about HIV and other sexually transmitted diseases. (TASR)

  • The new investments minister, Richard Raši (Hlas), has halted publication of the magazine Lepšie Slovensko(Better Slovakia), which the ministry paid for from EU funds. The magazine had been sent to a half million households in major cities. The minister objects to the fact that the magazine was not being sent to smaller towns. For six editions of the magazine, the ministry paid more than €350,000.

  • Austria has extended border checks with Slovakia by 20 days, until November 23. Poland, Czechia and Slovakia announced the same move on Thursday.

  • An assistance scheme for households stricken by the October earthquake in the east of Slovakia will be implemented by the Labour Ministry. Each household should receive €800, and €15,000 will be allocated per municipality. A second scheme will be financed from the government reserve. The Cabinet released €1.5 million for this purpose on Thursday. (SITA)

  • Former members of the Judicial Council, Katarína Javorčíková and Ľudovít Bradáč, will file a complaint with the Constitutional Court against the manner of their dismissal. The government decided to dismiss them at a November 2 meeting. (TASR)

WEATHER FOR THE WEEKEND: Saturday should be mostly sunny. The daytime temperature will not rise above 15°C. On Sunday, expect overcast skies, rain or showers in most places (with snow at higher altitudes). A yellow rain warning will be in place on Sunday in the southern part of central and eastern Slovakia. (SHMÚ)
