Fico threatens Supreme Court judges with disciplinary action

They constantly violate human rights, the premier thinks.

Premier and Smer party leader Robert Fico, and Defence and Security Parliamentary Chair Tibor Gašpar (Smer), paid a visit to the Justice Ministry on Thursday, announcing retaliatory actions against several judges of the Supreme Court.

“Today, we asked the [justice] minister [Boris Susko] a very legitimate and simple question: How is it possible that the body that most frequently violates human rights is one of the chambers of the Supreme Court?” Fico said on the “inspection day”.

Fico indicated the judges who decided the cases linked to Smer, in particular Judge Juraj Kliment, Judge Peter Štifta and Judge Peter Hatala. Fico believes that they should face a disciplinary action because - he said - that they had acted on a political order.

“If I were Mr. Kliment, I’d probably pack up my stuff today,” said Fico.
