SLOVAKIA lacks bustling cities with sprawling Old Towns filled with historical buildings. In fact, many of the country's historical Old Towns were significantly demolished during Communism.
Nevertheless, a colourful palette of original folk architecture, a result of picturesque villages being separated by high mountain ranges and deep valleys, has been preserved in many places nationwide.
Čičmany, a village nestled in Strážovské vrchy, has become famous for its decorative white architecture. This postcard dates back to the 1920s.
