Czech-Slovak film festival
The Czech-Slovak film festival Project 100 - 2001, which aims to bring international films to Slovakia which have never before appeared here, will run till the end of May. Slovakia's 34 film clubs nation-wide will show movies such as the 1964 comedy Dr. Strangelove or: How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb, the Italian film La Strada, the American drama Citizen Kane, David Lynch's Blue Velvet, the Czech film Nevěsta (Bride), and the Soviet sci-fi flick Soliaris.
Films will be shown at various filmclubs and cinemas in their original versions with Slovak or Czech subtitles. For movie times and locations, check posted schedules at filmclubs and cinemas around the country.
Austrian Culture Centre exhibition in Trnava
The Austrian Culture Centre will open an exhibition entitled "The Fatigue of Forgotten Nations" in the western Slovak city of Trnava, featuring pictures of Jewish cemeteries in countries of the former Austro-Hungarian monarchy. The exhibition opens Saturday, April 14 and runs till April 20, at Západoslovenské múzeum (West-Slovak Museum) on Múzejné námestie 3 in Trnava.
Social Centre in Piešťany
The Social Centre in Piešťaný invites you to a music and entertainment show entitled "In the Glamorous Realm of Tones". Beautiful folk songs, opera arias and duets will be performed by bass baritone Mikuláš Doboš and tenor Ján Babjak, both soloists of the National Opera House in Bratislava. The show starts at 19:30 on Tuesday, April 10.
The Social Centre also invites you to a performance featuring the victorious female participant in the 1989 "Virtuosi Per Musica Di Pianofore" competition of young pianists. Zuzana Zamborská with Košice State Philharmonic soloist Stanislav Zamborský will perform scores by Jummerl, Brahms, Skriabin and Schubert. The concert, entitled "Piano For Two", will start at 19:30 on Thursday, April 12 at Congress hall on Kúpeľný ostrov in Piešťany. Tel: 0838 775 2150.
The Austrian Culture Centre exhibitions in Bratislava
The Austrian Culture Centre in cooperation with the Slovak National Theatre will hold an exhibition of the works of architects Fellner and Helmer,
whose blueprints have been responsible for the construction of theatres around the world. The exhibition, entitled "Fellner and Helmer, Illusionist Architects", is held at the Slovak National Theatre on Hviezdoslavovo námestie 1. Tel: 5443 3083.
AmCham Business Cocktail
The American Chamber of Commerce in Slovakia invites all to the April Business Cocktail in the Hotel Danube's Panorama Room, on the fifth floor, Tuesday, April 3, from 18:00 till 20:00. Complimentary cocktails and hors-d'oeuvres will be served.
Goethe Institute exhibitions
The Goethe Institute in Bratislava will open a photo exhibition entitled "Authentic Performance" featuring photographs by German native Elfie Frohlich. The exhibition opens at 17:00 on Tuesday, April 10 at Goethe Institute on Panenská 33 and will last till May 10. Tel: 5443 3130.
First Tuesday
The April First Tuesday in Bratislava will be held April, 10 at 17:30 in the congress hall of Slovenská sporiteľňa at Zahradnicka 95 in Bratislava. The topic of the evening will be "m-business". French Institute concert
The French Institute in Bratislava will hold a traditional baroque music concert by the Slovak chamber orchestra Miméza, on Wednesday, April 11 at the French Institute's Gallery on Sedlárska 7. For concert starting time, call tel: 5934 7777.

Spanish exhibition at Danubiana
