EXHIBITION: THIS FIRST solo exhibition by Rastislav Podhorský, titled Zametené (Nehybní v nehybnom) / Swept Up (Motionless in the Motionless) and on show at Bratislava City Library’s Artotéka gallery, Kapucínska 1, comprises a set of drawings and several paintings created between 2008 and 2012. The set combines stark compositions with serious, paradoxical points from a story or a situation. It can be viewed on weekdays 8:00-19:00, except for Wednesdays (when it is open 12:00-19:00), until April 27.

RUN: Beh Devín-Bratislava – The 65th year of this run from Devín, a village near the capital, to downtown Bratislava covers 11,625 metres (or 2,600 metres for children). It is the oldest road-run and also the oldest athletic event in all of Slovakia. Interested runners can register online.

OPERA:AFTER A gap of about 20 years, the State Opera in Banská Bystrica has returned Mozart’s light comic opera Cosi Fan Tutte to its repertory. The local staging is focused more on the comic side of the work, stressing situational humour, the Rococo style and “swapping of brides”, an older motif revamped by Mozart. It premiered recently and will be staged again on April 12, at 18:30 in the Opera building, Národná 11. Tickets cost €3.50 and €7 and can be bought through www.stateopera.sk or www. navstevnik.sk.

CLASSICAL MUSIC: Sonatas - Daniela Varínska (piano) – One of Slovakia’s most renowned pianists offers a selection of sonatas by the composers who have crucially influenced this musical genre: Beethoven (Sonata in E major Op. 109), Schumann (Sonata in G minor Op. 22), and Liszt (Sonata in H minor).
