CONCERT: GHYMES, a Slovak-Hungarian band that plays music stemming from central-European folklore, has found its own voice, thanks to the music and lyrics of brothers Gyula and Tamás Szarka. On April 9, Ghymes will give a concert in Bratislava, at the Stará Tržnica (Old Market Hall) at 19:00, celebrating its 30th anniversary of successful musical activities. JAZZ: Folklore to Jazz – The project of Slovak jazzman Radovan Tariška combines traditional folklore with jazz, and this time he will be supported by a band (Essiet Okon Essiet on double bass, Benito Gonzalez on piano and Dávid Hodek on drums), fronted by jazz singers Peter Lipa from Slovakia and Anna Maria Jopek from Poland.

CLASSICAL MUSIC: Haydn, Rossini – The Slovak Philharmonic (SF) will play the Symphony in E Minor (Trauersymfonie) by Joseph Haydn and Stabat Mater by Gioacchino Rossini, as conducted by Christoph Campestrini from Austria, with the Choir of the SF and soloists Eva Hornyáková, Eva Garajová, Otokar Klein and Gustáv Beláček.

BALLET: Sen Noci Svätojánskej / Midsummer Night’s Dream – The ballet choreographed by renowned artist Youri Vámos to the music of Felix Mendelssohn-Bartholdy is inspired by the famous William Shakespeare play. CONCERT: TRIANGO is a musical ensemble comprised of composer/pianist Peter Breiner, violinist Stanislav Palúch and accordionist Boris Lenko. They play music by renowned composers of classical music and tango, as well as fusions of other genres. In Košice’s GES Club (L. Novomeského Square 13), they will play on April 12 at 19:00, merging jazz and tango, with guest Ján Hrubovčák on fujara, trombone, whistles and drumbľa.
