A VIVID combination of black and white, natural tones and precise lines, as well as a classical approach to materials, design and colours are the trends for the coming 2006 ball season.
A trio of renowned Slovak and Czech fashion designers introduced their latest collections last week at the Orange Fashion Show. The designs on show set the trends for the coming ball season that kicks of January 7, 2006 with the Opera Ball at the Slovak National Theatre.
Designer Alice Abraham said that women should be "seductive, sexy and original". Her collection presented dresses with hoops and large skirts, mostly made of silk as well as authentic snakeskin.
Fero Mikloško introduced light, colourful laminated silk dresses enriched with beads and spangles. He also showed massive evening robes with hoop skirts. Mikloško warned that the "proper lady should not forget gloves that reach above the elbow and suit the dress".
Liběna Rochová says that black will be the dominant colour during the common ball season, either as the base colour or in combination with white. "Other colours, such as red and purple will appear as well," said the designer, whose main motif in her collection was lace.
