THE CULT American musical Hair, which originated during the war in Vietnam in the 1960s and which has appeared on stages around the world, comes to Slovakia. The testimony of the hippies, the generation that wanted to live in peace and happiness and refused war and violence, though they could not escape them, is currently given at Bratislava's Nová Scéna (New Stage) theatre. Directed by Dodo Gombár and choreographed by Šárka Ondrišová, the musical features established stars as well as new faces of the Slovak dance scene. Performances this week take place at Nová Scéna, Živnostenská 1, on December 1 and 3, both days starting at 19:00. The tickets cost Sk500, Sk450, and Sk400. CENTRAL SLOVAKIA

AQUINCUM - Romans in Budapest is an exhibition that opened during the Days of Hungarian Culture in Slovakia, in Košice. It displays archaeological objects from the Budapest Történeti Museum collection that portray the life of the Romans who lived in the Pannonia territory (an ancient country of southern Europe lying in present-day Austria, Hungary, Slovenia, and Croatia). The most significant city of this province was Aquincum, which was close to today's Budapest. Unique findings from the Roman age, the 2nd-3rd centuries, are being exhibited in Slovakia for the first time. By using reconstructions and models illustrating the scenarios of the original settlements and life at the time, the exhibition allows visitors to get a more realistic picture of the era. The exhibition runs at the Košice Východoslovenské múzeum (Museum of Eastern Slovakia) at Námestie Maratóna Mieru 2, Tuesday to Saturday from 9:00 to 17:00 and on Sunday from 9:00 to 13:00, until January 26, 2004. The admission is Sk10. For more information call 055/6231-150. After Košice, the exhibition moves to the Bratislava City Museum.photo: Courtesy of the Hungarian Cultural Institute
