Young fashion designers and students of fashion design presented their creations during the third annual Hubert Fresh Fashion Contest, held under the auspices of the project Fashion LIVE!, a fashion event that brings the Slovak world of fashion to the public.
The Hubert Fresh Fashion Contest is dedicated to young fashion designers from Slovakia and the Czech Republic and offers the opportunity to show their talent to the public, as well as financial support in the amount of 400 euros to the winners for the creation of their own collection. This year the theme was “bubbles.”
The professional jury from Fashion LIVE!, comprised of creative director Olo Krížová, fashion designer and supervisor of the event Marcel Holubec, and fashion publicist and representative of the Hubert brand Zdeno Gáfrik, chose four winners from among seventeen applicants: Boris Kráľ, Samuela Takáčová and designer duo Lucia Žiak Roháčová with Peter Žiak.
In creating his collection, Boris Kráľ was inspired by the atmosphere and emotions of breakfast with champagne, from which comes the collection name, Champagne for Breakfast. The clothing plays with the idea of wearing classic pyjamas, bathrobes and negligee even during an ordinary day.
“Clothing should be casual and intimate, as if their owner just ran out of bed. The pyjama is an element of comfort and relaxation,” claimed the young designer in a press release.
Another original collection by Samuela Takáčová is named Reminiscent and her individual models represent the short duration of ethereal bubbles. “The main idea is the transparency and lightness of bubbles, which is reflected in the design and especially in the materials like silk, chiffon and organza,” explained Takáčová in a press release.
The duo designers Lucia Žiak Roháčová and Peter Žiak both work in their fashion house LUZ. The name of their collection is titled by three phases - Edgy, Flowy, Volatile - which together creates a story inspired by the topic of bubbles, as reported by their press release. “We wanted to express our perception of the topic with a clean slate,” said the designers.
They all will have space to present their collections directly at the event Fashion LIVE! in a separate prime time show during the last day before the Fashion LIVE! Awards ceremony.
