Like the recent fire in the Notre Dame cathedral, some Slovak historical buildings have also been engulfed in flames over the last decade. The castle Krásna Hôrka, located near Rožňava in eastern Slovakia, is the best-known ancient site to have burned down in the last couple of years.
Krásna Hôrka has been under reconstruction for seven years, and it is not yet finished. The castle caught fire after two boys lit a cigarette. The damage has cost €8 million.
Despite the importance of Krásna Hôrka, built on a hill in the 14th century, the catastrophe cannot be compared to the one in Paris, where the world-famous cathedral was damaged by fire on April 15.
