EIGHT Slovak homeless people, sellers of the Nota Bene street magazine, participated at the world soccer championships of homeless people, The Homeless World Cup 2004, in Göteborg, Sweden during the last week of July.The aim of the event was to use soccer as a means of communication and "to show the public that people without shelter can also electrify crowds". Thirty teams, compiled of street magazine sellers from around the world, competed this year.
The Homeless World Cup took place for the first time last year in Graz, Austria and attracted 20,000 viewers, and 100 journalists from around the world including the New York Times, the BBC, and Sky News.
