Most beautiful books announced

A COMPETITION to find Slovakia’s most beautiful book takes place each year in order to support and boost the visual perception of books published in Slovakia. On April 25, the winners were announced in the Dvorana concert hall in Bratislava – and an exhibition presenting them can be seen until May 26 at Bibiana, the International House of Art for Children, at Panská 41 in Bratislava, the Pravda daily wrote.

Awards went to the Slovart publishing house for the monograph František Horniak by Antónia Paulinyová, with graphic layout by Vladislav Rostoka; to illustrator Vladimír Král for Via-nočné mystérium / Christ- mas Mystery by Jostein Ga-arder, published by Artforum; to Štefan Seko and Anna Oravcová for Grafika a maľ-ba, authored by Marián Ko-máček; to Dušan Dušek and Erik Ondrejička for IM_PULZ – Čakanie hmoty; and to Ivan Jančár’s monograph Robert Bielik. The most beautiful children’s book was Medzi nami zvieratami by Viera Brunovská (graphic layout by Daniel Brunovský), illustrated by Peter Kľúčik. The almanac for 2012 of the Faculty of Mass Media Communication of the University of Ss Cyril and Methodius in Trnava was also selected as a winner, the SITA newswire wrote.
