RECONSTRUCTION at Bratislava Castle has already limited the operation of its exhibition premises, but will not result in the castle being closed completely, Jana Chrappová from the Slovak National Museum informed The Slovak Spectator.
For the time being, the capital’s most recognisable landmark will continue hosting parliamentary ceremonial functions and housing exhibitions by the Slovak National Museum.
Visitors have until the end of January to see Before the Closing Time, an exhibition dedicated to architect Alfred Piffl, who initiated the first reconstruction of the castle in the mid 20th century. Another exhibition closing at the end of January is The Artist of the Nation, which focuses on Slovak composer Mikulá#š Schneider-Trnavský.
By the end of February tourists can also visit the archeological exhibition Treasures of Slovakia’s Ancient Past. The revived exhibition The Stone Witness, which presents the history of Bratislava Castle, will also remain open to the public.
The Historical Museum of the Slovak National Museum is preparing new exhibition premises in the Luginsland bastion, which currently houses the Music Museum’s exhibitions.
