The third broadcast to be shown in this series – after the ballet Swan Lake and the opera Turandot – will be the ballet Don Quixote, performed to the music of Ludwig Minkus, originally choreographed by Marius Petipa and adapted by Martin Yates (who also conducts the orchestra). Carlos Acosta, who danced the role of Basilio many times for the Royal Opera House, has produced, choreographed and directed this recent performance. The adventure of the strange knight, authored by Miguel de Cervantes, has inspired numerous ballets, but this one is the best known.
