Jerry Maguire* - Show me the money! A sports agent, played wonderfully by Tom Cruise, has moral questions about what is important - money, or family. Though an entertaining film, the portrayal of sports in America today as revolving only around the dollar is depressing. (Jerry Maguire).
Dante's peak* - A scientist (Pierce Brosman) paranoid yet fascinated with volcanos saves a small town from an active volcano, which ruins everything in its path. Directed by Roger Donaldson, the only real plus of this film are the special effects in which Hollywood shows off it's high-tech computer animation. Also stars Linda Hamilton. (Rozpútané peklo)
Michael* - John Travolta dons a pair of wings as the arch-angel Michael, the one who kicked Satan out of Heaven, in a loosley written but funny comedy. Travolta hangs out in an upstairs hotel room of a small rural American town while helping co-stars Andie McDowell and William Hurt get together.(Michael)
Metro*- Eddie Murphy hits the big screen in a fast-paced thriller. Though the plot is not new, two unlikely cops catch a frightful pychopath - who then escapes from prison with one thing on his mind - revenge, Murpy is witty and there are enough creative surprises - mind you not plot twists - to keep you in your seat. (Policajt zo San Francisca).
Portrait of a lady* - New Zealand's Jane Campion, famous for her three Oscars for The Piano, directed this film based on the classic novel by Henry James. It's an effective psychological drama about a young American, Nicole Kidman, from high society who decides to live in Europe at the end of 19th century (Portrét dámy).
Surviving Picasso*- Director James Ivory and screenplay writer Ruth Prawer Jbabvala (Howard's End, A Room with a View) get together again making another subtle love story. The story follows the romantic relationship between Picasso (Anthony Hopkins) and his mistress Francoise (Natasha McElhone). (Picasso:Tvorca a Ničiteľ).
