ANOTHER book from the environs of Banská Štavnica, the historical mining town in central Slovakia, has come to bookstores. The festive launch of the new book called Štiavnické veže (Štavnica Towers) was held on April 17.
Silvia Čujanová, representative of the civic association Kruh told the TASR newswire that the book is the third publication written by the creative women architects from Banská Štavnica, Andrea Nižňanská and Iveta Chovanová.
“This book leads readers into the fascinating world of towers and attics where the history of important architectural structures of Banská Štavnica is revived,” Čujanová said, introducing the architects' brand new work.
The authors made their debut in 2005 with their first work called Detail – Banská Štavnica a jej skrytá krása which described the town’s hidden beauty as revealed in various architectural details, mysterious niches and dusty corners of old houses. In 2007, the authors published Tajomstvá štiavnických domov (Mysteries of Štiavnica Houses) which showed the interior beauty of five now almost-deserted residences while sharing the real life stories of the people who lived in Banská Štiavnica in the past.
