The original prints, along with three donated by the Central-European Foundation, constitute the complete portfolio Ladies and Gentlemen.

"It's a great boost for us, especially these days when the Minister of Culture treats us as a provincial institution," said curator Michal Bycko.

Medzilaborce, population 7,000, is a ten minute drive from the village where Andy Warhol's parents were born. The museum, opened in 1991 after a visit by Warhol's brother, has never found consistent financing and is stuck, says Bycko, in a communist-era building with a leaky roof and too much empty space.

The seven prints were purchased by US Steel for $25,000, although their market value is around five times higher. With the new prints, the Warhol Family Museum of Modern Art has 27 Warhol originals in its permanent collection.
