Winter shows its powers

THE WINTER that we have all wished for has come only at the very end of the season. However, the recent generous snowfall has created an unusual situation: there is much more snow in Bratislava's Koliba than in many mountainous areas and this doesn't happen very often.

This week it will be snowing and freezing again. We can expect another 20 cm of snow, at some places even more, and temperatures will still stay below zero (-7 to -3 degrees Celsius) even during the day. Since school holidays are now over, there is not only great skiing on natural snow ahead of us but also half-empty slopes and significant discounts (up to 30 percent) and bonuses on ski passes.

If you are looking for some additional fun too, come to Donovaly where the Snow Show will burst forth over the weekend with testing of skis, various kinds of competitions and lots of good music. On Sunday the famous Milka cow will come from the meadows of the Alps to Donovaly with many competitions and fun attractions within the Milka Funpark. And dogsled races will take place in Oravská Lesná on March 6 – 8.
