A beekeeper from Košice, Tibor Vargapál, left the international expo Apimondia in Istanbul with nine awards, plus the grand prize of best apiary. He gained gold for his mead, gift parcel, collection of four kinds of honey and jars of nuts and dried fruit in honey, startitup.sk wrote.
Beekeeping has been in their family for 70 years now.
“My grandpa managed about 40 bee colonies. I learned the craft from him. I take care of about 200 bee colonies today, mostly with my son,” wrote Vargapál on his website.
The base of the farm is located in the village Hraň, 70 kilometres from Košice. The farm produces several types of honey – acacia, rapeseed, linden, sunflower and forest honey. Vargapál produces pollen, candles and propolis.
