THE RULING Slovak National Party (SNS) will again nominate Adrián Kucek for the post of head of the National Memory Institute (ÚPN), confirmed SNS leader Ján Slota.

He said that the SNS has not discussed this matter with the other coalition partners. "I will talk about the candidate list with Prime Minister Robert Fico and we will also take into consideration the opinions
of the other coalition partners; however, we still insist on Kucek," said Slota.

The coalition partners said that they would discuss the nomination ahead of the December parliamentary session, when the next round of voting for ÚPN director should take place. In the first two rounds, no candidate, including Kucek, received the required number of votes.

The ÚPN has been without a director since June 15 when its previous director, Ján Langoš, died in a car accident.

During the last ballot on October 20, only 67 of the 139 MPs present supported Kucek for the post. To be elected, Kucek would have to get at least 70 votes.
