THE NEW Citizen's Alliance (ANO) party launched a petition to prevent the adoption of what it calls a "discrimination treaty" according to the Hospodárske noviny daily.
The treaty, endorsed by the Vatican, allows professionals such as doctors to refuse to carry out abortions on the basis of their religious beliefs. The ANO's petition, entitled "For a Modern Slovakia", believes that the treaty "introduces a category of unequal, second-class citizens".
