The Anti-Monopoly Office is looking closely at increases in charges for using cash machines owned by other banks. Clients of the three largest Slovak banks, Slovenská sporiteľňa, VÚB, and Tatra banka, now have to pay between Sk34 (€0.81) and Sk37 (0.88) to withdraw cash.
The reason for the increase, a rise in charges by the Bank Card Association, is also shared by other banks whose charges have remained much lower.
The banks insist that they are not acting as a cartel.
