CARMAKER Audi has confirmed reports regarding defects in cars assembled at the Volkswagen Bratislava plant. The daily Hospodárske Noviny wrote on November 3 that many Audi Q7 and Volkswagen Touareg models are currently parked within the premises of the plant. Their engines, produced at the Audi Motor plant in Györ, Hungary, have defects.
“There are about 2,000 engines of the V8 FSI type,” Audi spokesman Andreas Meurer told the Hospodárske Noviny daily. However, management at the Volkswagen plant in Bratislava denied having any problems with the engines and the German headquarters of Volkswagen has not addressed the issue.
Meurer offered assurances that no Audi cars with defective engines have been released into the distribution network and that the cars are now waiting for a change of engines. “We will check all of them and we will send them back to production,” said Meurer.
