Bank profits and clients on the rise

PRELIMINARY non-audited results show that last year Tatra Banka, the third largest bank in Slovakia, put their profits at Sk2.2 billion (€560 million), which represents and increase of 8.9 percent year-on-year.

The bank's spokesman, Roman Začka, ascribed this result to a 22.4-percent increase in the balance-sheet total, which Sk167.7 billion (€4.3 billion).

The SITA news agency reported that client deposits at Tatra Banka's went up by 9.4 percent last year to Sk116 billion (€2.99 billion) and loans provided to clients reached Sk66 billion (€1.7 billion), recording a 10.3 percent increase year-on-year.
