Frešo called on the police to find the culprit and stop such incidents. The governor added that this was the third recent attack against regional government officials.

The police confirmed that two cars were set alight by an unknown offender in Bratislava early on Thursday. SDKÚ vice-chair Lucia Žitňanská said that Thursday's incident is one in a series of attacks, with too many within a short period.

She noted that the car of an SDKU candidate for member of Bratislava regional parliament was burned during the election campaign in the autumn.

"I've zero understanding for rackets. And these practices are a clear signal that representatives of the public have good reasons to be afraid. We aren't in Colombia, or Sicily, where politicians are being hijacked," said Frešo. TASR
