THE BRITISH company Wincanton plans to focus on the Slovak market, including setting up a logistics centre to cover the surrounding region.
"Slovakia is becoming a central point in the region due to the rapid development of its highway network and the influx of foreign investment," said Lukáš Rek, managing director of Wincanton Trans European CZ, a transport logistics company, at a news conference in Bratislava on February 17.
Wincanton Trans European CZ achieved a profit of €2.5 billion in 2005, the TASR news wire wrote.
The company employs 30 people in Slovakia, and opened a warehouse covering 6,000 square metres in January 2006 in Senec, 20 kilometres northeast of Bratislava.
According to Rek, the turnover of the company's branches in Slovakia and the Czech Republic is around Sk460 million a year.
Wincanton operates in 15 countries, employing a total of 27,000 people.
