British Minister of State for Trade and Investment Lord Livingston was in Bratislava on March 5 to open the British-Slovak Business Centre, which should offer a broad scale of services for small- and medium-sized enterprises from the United Kingdom.
“The business centre was set up to boost British exports,” the centre’s Executive Director Christopher Plant told the TASR newswire. “From the perspective of logistics, Slovakia is a fantastic place... located in the heart of Europe. There’s a highly qualified and affordable workforce, the country is stable in political and economic terms, and there are many business opportunities.”
Livingston, who is on a tour of central and eastern Europe, is accompanied by 35 representatives of British companies looking for business opportunities in the region.
“Slovakia and the United Kingdom have very friendly relations,” he said at a press conference. “We’d like to show to [British] companies the existing opportunities. This should result in more investments and British exports flowing to Slovakia. Our goal is deepening and boosting relations between the two countries.”
Livingston is also set to meet Foreign Minister Miroslav Lajčák and Economy Ministry State Secretary Pavol Pavlis, with whom he will open a forum on Slovak-British business relations.
