The cabinet agreed at its regular meeting yesterday to push a long-overdue law, devolving central state power to regional elected governments, through parliament in accelerated proceedings to meet a September 30 deadline, reported the daily paper Sme.
The deadline had been set August 25 by the ethnic Hungarian SMK party, which said it would leave the ruling coalition by the end of the month if the contested law was not passed.
