Some ministers did not attend the cabinet session on March 14, but Interior Minister Robert Kaliňák arrived, who announced his resignation two days earlier.
As the interior minister, he wants to finish the security agenda, said Robert Kaliňák (of the ruling Smer party), as quoted by the Denník N daily. “Today, I attended my last cabinet session as deputy PM and interior minister,” he told the daily, adding that he thanked everyone for proper cooperation and that everything that has a beginning must also have an end.
He has still not delivered his resignation to President Andrej Kiska as of March 14 noon.
Some of the other – incumbent – ministers have not arrived. Foreign Minister Miroslav Lajčák (Smer nominee), now residing in the USA as president of the UN general assembly, sent state secretary Igor Korčok as replacement, the Sme daily wrote.
Another absent minister is Justice Minister Lucia Žitňanská (Most-Híd), who sent her state secretary as well - Mária Kolíková.
At the Wednesday morning session, the government recalled the state secretary at the Transport Ministry, Viktor Stromček, who has also been the government proxy for the preparation and implementation of strategic parks. He finished in the latter position as well. The proposal for his dismissal was penned by Transport Minister Árpád Érsek (Most-Híd).
Stromček has been mentioned in the long run as the new general manager of Smer, while the party has not confirmed it yet, according to Sme.
