A church tower collapsed in the village of Láb - in Bratislava Region on September 2 afternoon, with no injuries reported so far, Bratislava regional police spokeswoman Tatiana Kurucová told the TASR newswire.
Mária Lisá from the municipal office told TASR that the church has undergone extensive reconstruction in recent years. Mayor Monika Valuchová told cas.sk news website that the tower, which mainly hit the church itself, also damaged the altar.
“We are standing nearby now and we feel like crying,” Valuchová said. People from the village were initially unable to find the local parish priest after the tower collapsed, but it later emerged that he was at the doctor at the time.
