KOŠICE regional court upheld an earlier ruling by Spišská Nová Ves district court that Monika Bikárová had not been illegally sterilised by doctors in 1986.
She had been calling for Sk400,000 (9,600 euro) damages in the first such case to be brought following recent allegations that doctors were illegally sterilising Roma women.
Experts in the case stated that Bikárová's infertility could have been due to an infection, and that the Gelnice hospital where the woman was treated was not technically equipped to carry out the alleged sterilisation.
