A PLENUM of Slovakia’s Constitutional Court has accepted a motion filed by former Justice Minister Lucia Žitňanská against Supreme Court President Štefan Harabin and will undertake further proceedings on the motion.
Though it agreed that it will weigh evidence against Harabin on this particular motion, the judges refused to accept Žitňanská’s motion to temporarily suspend Harabin as a judge, and her motion to link this specific case with other disciplinary motions she had filed against Harabin, the SITA newswire reported.
Žitňanská filed four motions for disciplinary action against Harabin. The Constitutional Court ruled last year that Harabin had violated his duties by refusing to allow auditors from the Finance Ministry to examine the Supreme Court’s financial records and reduced his salary by 70 percent for one year.
Harabin has appealed that decision to the European Court of Human Rights.
