ČSOB Bratislava Marathon had record participation

THE EIGHTH year of the ČSOB Bratislava Marathon had more than 7,530 runners registered, which represents record participation. The race, which took place on Sunday, March 24 (with shorter races for all age and fitness categories taking place on the previous day), also included a half-marathon, which attracted 2,305 runners (out of 7, 530), while the main run saw 728 runners of various nationalities.

The winner of the main discipline in Sunday’s run was Kenyan Cheruiyot Chesiny (2:18:33), who beat Peter Kariuky (also from Kenya, 2:18:47) and Alexander Babaryka (Ukraine, 2:20:20). The highest placing Slovak was Boris Csiba (2:38:11), the SITA newswire wrote. The fastest female runner was Lilian Koech (Kenya, 2:57:42), followed by Marija Vrajič (Croatia, 2:53:52) and Katalin Farkas (Hungary, 2:57:26). The highest placing Slovak woman in the race was Kristína Lapinová (3:11:38). The half-marathon was won by Joel Maina Mwangi (the best Slovak being Róbert Valíček), and among women by Chelangat Sang (the best Slovak female runner being Katarína Pokorná).
