Day 3 of Kočner and Rusko trial: More new evidence against the defendants appears

On July 24 there continued the case in which controversial businessman Marian Kočner, charged with ordering the murder of journalist Ján Kuciak, and Pavol Rusko, a former director of the private broadcaster TV Markíza, stand accused of forging promissory notes of €69 million and obstruction of justice.

On the third day of the trial, several witnesses were heard, including TV Markíza's accountant Anna Miklošovičová, ex-TV Licence Council member Anna Hausknotzová, and Kočner's business partner Štefan Agh. New evidence was also submitted by a prosecutor, as reported by the Sme daily.

Agh is charged with faking the promissory notes in a separate case. In addition, he is a former member of the communist-era secret police (ŠtB), and of the Slovak Information Service (SIS).

Rusko has attended all three days so far. Kočner continues to refuse to attend the trial unless it moves from Pezinok to Bratislava.

The court hearings will continue again in Pezinok, near Bratislava, on Monday, July 29.

“I never saw the promissory notes or included them in TV Markíza's financial records,” said TV Markíza's former accountant Anna Miklošovičová, who worked there at the time when Rusko was the director and Sylvia Volzová his business partner.
