Juraj K., the man who filed an action against student Hedviga Malinová has died, Police Corps spokesman Martin Korch told the TASR news wire on May 24.
"He died on May 4,” said Korch. “The investigation of the cause of death has ruled out a violent death. We will not give more details. This will not influence the investigation.”
The action filed by Juraj K. was the reason police began the process of filing a charge against Hedviga Malinová for allegedly giving a false report to police.
Malinová and her lawyer Roman Kvasnica learned about the death of Juraj K. this morning, when they showed up for a scheduled interrogation in Nitra.
"The investigator told us that the interrogation will not take place, because the man has already died," Kvasnica told TASR.
According to the Sme daily’s website, Juraj Khas committed suicide in the cellar of his house in Šaľa.
Police, who only this week officially filed charges concerning the August 2006 incident, have not released information about why Juraj K. made the accusations against Malinová that led to the charges against her.
